Question by cheryl r: Really great places in SW Montana????
I will be in SW Montana (Big Sky/Bozeman/West Yellowstone) for the first time at the end of this month. I’ve got the travel guides and all, but I want YOUR opinion…was there a REALLY GREAT sight, store, restaurant or bar, or other place, that you have been to? Seems like everytime I take a trip, I find out about the great places after the fact…I’ve got a week to see the “best of the best” What do you suggest????

Bozeman in and of itself is wonderful. There is a brew pub on the main thoroughfare through town, I can’t remember what it’s called, but it is both a great bar and a great restaurant. West of Bozeman is Livingston, it’s a cool little town that is somewhat stuck in time. A very good restaurant there too, Steak and Chop House or something like that. Sorry, it has been a few years since I’ve been. The best part, for me, is to get out and drive. Look around at all the nothingness. Coming from the east coast, it was wonderful to see that there was still that much land left somewhere. Look for horseback riding, no better way to see Montana.

My favorite thing to do in Bozeman is the Museum of the Rockies http://www.museumoftherockies.org/
MacKenzie River Pizza is different – and started in Bozeman. They have unique pizza flavors and lots of Montana microbrews on tap. http://www.mackenzieriverpizza.com/
Also, Wheat Montana by Three Forks is a cool deli – in the mornings they can give tours of wheat processing. http://www.wheatmontana.com/
